Launch day!

Oh my friends, I am overwhelmed. Today was the launch of "The Nominal Hero" in paperback and ebook, and the outpouring of support from the Nouns community has been just amazing. I hope all of you who bought or downloaded the book enjoy it, I hope your kids enjoy it, I hope it brings you the kind of happiness I'm feeling right now.

For those who want to purchase the paperback, you can buy it on Amazon here. All you wonderful people actually managed to make it show up as "Temporarily out of stock" multiple times today, because their processing system did not realize what a fantastic community I am part of; so if you get that message, please just wait a few minutes and try again, and it ought to work.

As well, my cover artist, the talented @Messhup, is offering his cover illustration as an open edition on Zora for all you digital art appreciators to add to your collections. This is such a cool idea; I always think it's so neat when people have prints of the cover art of books they've loved, and the fact that this is now possible in a digital form feels so futuristic.

And speaking of the future, how amazing is it that we can just keep an entire library in our pockets now? I know we all kind of take ebooks for granted these days, but I can't stop marvelling at it. And this particular ebook, as I've talked about before, is available for free!

Like Nouns themselves, the book is public domain, and it feels so great to be able to offer it to everyone like this with no strings attached. I'm not against the idea of copyright: we live in a capitalist society, and writers need to be able to make a living from our work so that we can concentrate on making more cool things to share, and right now in order to do that, we mostly have to work within the copyright system. But it always makes me a little sad to see a writer say something like "I'm happy for you all to write fanfic, but for legal reasons I can't read any of it." So I'm immensely grateful to the Nouns DAO for providing an alternate path for this book, so that I can say: Yes! Show me your fanfic! Make a video, make an audiobook, make art, make anything! Make it and sell it, if you like; why not? We're all part of this community, part of this conversation, and I want you to be able to make a living from your work too, so that even more cool things get made and shared. After all, that's the Nounish way.
